The utility can restore files that were removed from Recycle Bin by accident or were lost after the re-installation of a hard drive or a software failure. You can recover a wide variety of files, such as documents, images, emails, video clips, and many others.
A great thing is that you have access to a wizard assistant which guides you every step of the way. You just need to select the scan location and choose the proper checking method (look for deleted files or search deleted and lost files). Once the scanning process is complete, you can preview the found data and select the files you wish to restore. Unfortunately, you cannot recover any data if you're using the trial version of the tool; you can only scan drives and preview the found data.
Other useful features include the ability to save and load scan results, the access to a built-in search tool, and the fact that you can choose between various sorting options (for the scan results list).
All in all, Recover My Files is simple to handle and offers you many advantages. However, there are plenty of other file recovery tools that allow you to fully-test their capabilities before buying them (in this case, restore some data).
